Food Safety Week
The Food Safety Information Council runs Australian Food Safety Week (AFSW) in November every year. The aim of AFSW is to promote relevant food safety messages to the general public and the food industry, ultimately to reduce the incidence of food borne illness in Australia.
Food Safety Week 2024: Look before you cook – read the food labels
This year Australian Food Safety Week’s theme is Look
before you cook – read the food labels. Preparing daily meals and snacks happens every day. There have been an estimated 4.67 million cases of food poisoning in Australia each year caused by incorrect food preparation.
Food labels provide information to help us make healthier and safer food choices, including how best to store the food we purchase and the different ways to cook a product.
