The Jamie Larcombe Centre is a new $15 million veterans’ mental health precinct located at Glenside Health Service Campus, providing mental health and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) services to veterans.

The Centre has been purpose built to accommodate services previously provided by Ward 17 at the Repatriation General Hospital.

The Centre was officially opened on Thursday 5 October 2017 by the Larcombe family, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and the Minister for Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

The Centre includes

  • an ambulatory service incorporating outpatient treatment and a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) service
  • 24 single rooms with ensuites
  • outpatient rooms
  • a gymnasium
  • research spaces
  • gardens
  • a children’s playground for families.

Model of care

A Model of Care for Specialist Mental Health Services for Veterans (PDF 732KB) has been developed, outlining the services provided at the Jamie Larcombe Centre and how these services are to be delivered. The model of care builds on the previous model for Ward 17 at the Repatriation General Hospital, taking into consideration the wide range of services delivered at the precinct, and is based on evidence-based practice to ensure it will meet the needs of current and future Veterans. Partnerships Hub

The Partnerships Hub (the Hub) is located within the Veterans Mental Health Precinct at the Glenside Health Service Campus and has been a space in which veterans and their families could meet with Ex Service Organisations (ESOs) to access veterans’ wellbeing services.

On 1 July 2022, the management of the Partnerships Hub transitioned to the Jamie Larcombe Centre (JLC). The facility continues to be called the Partnerships Hub.

This maximises the use of space dedicated to veterans at the Glenside Health Service Campus, providing additional space for clinical and non-clinical services provided by the JLC. Clinical services such as 1:1 counselling and group therapy are provided to inpatients and outpatients of the JLC, maintaining the Hub as a valued resource for supporting veterans’ health and wellbeing.

The Hub is available for in-reach services from ESOs at negotiated times, to provide wellbeing services to JLC inpatients and outpatients, serving the original purpose of the Hub.

Drop-in access to veteran wellbeing services at the Hub is available at the Repat Veteran Wellbeing Centre in Daw Park from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday.
