Bordertown Memorial Hospital provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to outpatients and aged care beds and is part of the Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN)

Patients may commence their stay at Bordertown Memorial Hospital but finish their care at one of the neighbouring hospitals with specialist medical or allied health input when required. All hospitals in the South East work collaboratively to support the patient care needs of the region.

Accident and emergency services

In a medical emergency phone 000 and await ambulance attendance

For all other presentations, when you arrive at the Bordertown Memorial Hospital accident and emergency service, you will be seen by a nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury prior to seeing a doctor.

Mental health emergencies

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency you can present to the accident and emergency service at Bordertown Memorial Hospital.

Alternatively, telephone Rural and Remote Mental Health Service on 13 14 65 for mental health counselling, support and information.

Visiting hours

Visitors play an important part in any patient’s stay. Visitors are encouraged to visit within the following times.

Hospital visitors

11:00 am to 8:00 pm daily

  • all visitors must wear a surgical mask
  • visitor numbers are not restricted however, we ask that you continue to comply with physical distancing and room capacity notices.

Please DO NOT visit if you have

  • been a known contact with a person who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 for 7 days from exposure (except for the purposes of obtaining medical care or medical supplies)
  • tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days.

Emergency Department

  • One visitor per patient (exceptions are at the discretion of nursing and midwifery staff, whom permission should first be obtained).
  • All visitors must wear a surgical mask.

Residential Aged Care Facilities

Before entering one of our LCLHN Residential Aged Care Facilities please ensure you that:

  • you have completed hand hygiene practices
  • are wearing a surgical mask
  • you are not a known close contact of COVID-19 in the past 7 days
  • you have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days
  • you have not experienced fever, chills, symptoms of an acute respiratory infection such as a cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, or loss of taste and smell in the last 72 hours.

Parking is available at the front of the hospital through the main entrance off of South Terrace.

Bordertown Memorial Hospital has full disability access. If you have special needs and are unsure, please contact reception who will assist you with your specific enquiry.

Bordertown Community Health Building Floorplan

The Bordertown Community Health Building is home to community nursing and a range of allied health services including podiatry, occupational therapy, social work, palliative care, speech pathology therapy, dietetics and home support staff.

The current building is almost 50 years old and over the years has gradually deteriorated. We are commencing the process to rebuild the space and we would like to thank the community for their feedback on the proposed floorplans.

Planned to start with building in 2023, our intention is to ensure this building is fit for purpose to continue to offer a high-quality of community and allied health services to Bordertown and the surrounding communities.

All clinical and consult rooms will be fitted with handbasins and data points (for computer access/ telehealth). This will ensure that the rooms are as flexible as possible for different uses in the future.

  • Pink: Office spaces for staff
  • Blue: Clinical rooms
  • Green: Consult rooms
  • Yellow: Reception area
  • Brown: Storage
